Packs With Purpose
We need volunteers to stuff back packs with school supplies. Packs are stuffed in December and handed out in January to children, youth and young adults in Foster Care in Indiana. This program was created specifically to address the dire need that DCS has to provide resources and services to Foster Parents and Kinship Foster placements. Kinship Foster Placements (usually relatives) do not receive financial assistance for the children that they care for. This, and other resources that we are developing, will assist Foster and Kinship placements with the help that they need.
Volunteers will assist staff and Board Members with filling the packs with specific items that coincide with specific age groups. We will also need a select number of volunteers to hand out the packs in January.
Stuff Packs: Saturday December 12, 2020 9:00-11:00 (AM)
Pass Out Packs: Saturday January 2, 2021 9-12 (AM) or 2-5 (PM)
We are in need of volunteers for our EOTO Mentor University. EOTO (Each One Teach One) mentors work directly with program youth to assist them in meeting their goals and objectives. Mentors meet with youth, as per the youth’s dictated schedule. EOTO Mentors incorporate the Factor of 7 into their instruction to further assist youth with a successful outcome. This volunteer position is a trained one, and Mentors must be available to meet with youth at least one day a week for up to two hours. This is a great opportunity for a college youth, young adult or person with the drive and willingness to commit to showing youth how to better their lives. This position does require a background check.
A Home For Good
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our home. The home will open its doors in 2021. This opportunity will require a background check and volunteers must be available at least one day a week. Days, hours and times will vary greatly. Volunteers will assist youth in the home as well as answer the phone, clean when needed, and ensure that posted schedules are being adhered to. This is a great opportunity for a retiree or Social Work Student who is looking to expand their knowledge about Foster Care and older youth services.
